Free Precious Disk Space With Xslimmer

If you're the proud owner of a MacBook Air, or if you have an older MacBook or iMac and you're running out of disk space, then there's one product you definitely need.

It's called Xslimmer.

It does one thing, and one thing only, and that's slimming down OS X applications so they take up less room on your drive.

And every megabyte you free up is a megabyte you can use for your own documents, photos, and music.

Chronos Announces iClipboard

Let's face it. If you're like me, system utilities rarely have the power to invoke your "buy it now" creditcard reflex.

Especially when the category is as pedestrian-sounding as a "clipboard-manager".

So let's set the record straight up front: if you write about practically anything at all, you need this product.

Timeline Makes Timelines In Seconds

Bee Docs' has just released Timeline 2.0, a ground-up redesign of their popular timeline-charting software.

So what's it do?

It makes timelines, those fancy date-and-time-based info-graphics used in articles and presentations to clearly communicate a series of events.

While not for everyone, Timeline can make professional-looking graphics in—quite literally—seconds.

The latest version of Pixelmator features improved Leopard support, a built-in Quick Look plug-in that covers quite a few rare image formats, and tablet pen sensitivity support. Pixelmator also adds 18 new Core Image units and more than 60 Quartz Composer composition filters.

Coda Upgraded To Version 1.1

If you're a web developer, you should put the latest version of Coda on your Christmas list.

Also updated for Leopard, Panic Software's Coda has a lot more features and functionality and tweaks than it's "point one" version number might indicate.

I've only used it for a few smaller projects, but I really like it's crisp, clean interface as opposed to that of Adobe's Dreamweaver, which even after three "major" updates is really starting to show its age.

Best of all, Coda is a free update if you own version 1.0, so use the built-in updater if you do, or download it now if you don't.

Omni Releases OmniGraffle 5.0 Beta

The Omni Group just announced the availability of a public beta version of their best-selling diagramming and drawing tool, OmniGraffle.

OmniGraffle can help you create flow charts, org charts, network diagrams, family trees, project processes, office layouts - or anything else that can be represented by symbols and lines and using stencils full of common symbols.

The new version is designed for OS X Leopard, and features a new rendering engine with new layout types, collapsable subgraphs, Bezier lines and controls, support for Quick Look, and a host of other new features.

They've also added the ability to directly open the default Microsoft Visio file format, VSD. This is definitely a bonus as Microsoft has yet to make any version of Visio available for the Macintosh version of Microsoft Office.

Pricing and final availability have not yet been determined.

FileMaker's Bento: A First Look

FileMaker is introducing Bento, the "new personal database that's as easy to use as a Mac", and making it available as a free "Preview" version.

A Bento box is a compartmentalized Japanese container that allows you to fit everything neatly into place. Similarly, Bento for Mac, much like its icon, is said to do the same for your contacts and calendars, projects and events, and "just about every type of information you have".

Let's open up the lid and take a look.
