Let's face it. If you're like me, system utilities rarely have the power to invoke your "buy it now" creditcard reflex.
Especially when the category is as pedestrian-sounding as a "clipboard-manager".
So let's set the record straight up front: if you write about practically anything at all, you need this product.
What's it do? Simple.
iClipboard keeps a history of everything you copy to the clipboard from within any application. And as a result, you're no longer limited to pasting the last thing copied to the clipboard.
Yawn. Yeah, I know, so let's use a real-world example:
Let's say you're creating a blog. Like this one.
Now normally this would require finding your source material, writing some copy, bouncing back to the source window to find a quote, back again to the editor, stick in the quote, going back-and-forth again for an image, and again for a link to the site, and again for a download link, and so on.
With iClipboard, you select everything you need all in one pass.
Select the text, copy. Select a quote, copy. Select a link, copy.
Each time you do a copy it's automatically saved in the handy "pop-out" window hidden off to one side of your screen.
Now go back to your editor and start typing.
When you need the text, just click the button in the pop-out window and it's automatically inserted.
Ready for the quote? One click. The link? One click.
Boom. You're done. And without all of the frenzied back-and-forth effort it usually takes.
iClipboard also lets you save your clippings in "projects" so you can grow a set of quotes and links for an article and save them for later.
And it makes full use of Leopard's Quick Look technology, giving you previews for rich text items, images, web pages, movies, sound clips, files, and all of the other items you've copied.
Like Spaces, I honestly think that iClipboard is going to have a major impact on how I use my computer.
But don't take my word for it. A fully functional 30 day trial version can be obtained from the Chronos web site, so try it and see for yourself.
iClipboard will retail at $29.99, but a special introductory version is available for just $19.99 if you order before December 31st.
