Leopard's Photoshop CS3 Issues: The Saga Continues
Photoshop Product Manager John Nack has acknowledged that the issue with the cursors and toolbar text entry fields are known bugs and should be fixed in an upcoming software update.
To quote, "All I can say is that Adobe is working on an update for Photoshop (addressing printing problems, as mentioned previously, and a few others), but it's not designed for Leopard specifically."
Reading between the lines between this and a few previous communications and blog posts, it's still a bit unclear if Adobe's update will fix these specific problems, or if the fix is forthcoming in the Leopard 10.5.1 update that's currently being tested by Apple's developer community. Or both. Or neither.
Don't you just love upgrades?
To recap, many tools like the Marque selection tool and the Text tool simply don't work under Leopard; the cursor flickering back and forth between the standard arrow cursor and the tool-specific one, with no "marching ants" selection nor any text entry. It also appears that the smart toolbars for many tools refuse text input.
It was thought that the problem was related to Spaces. However, switching off Spaces and restarting Photoshop has no effect; or rather, the same benefit can be gained by simply restarting Photoshop. Unfortunately, the problems typically reappear after a short period of use.
Other users are reporting problems with specific Epson printers, and in printing from within Adobe's Lightroom product.
Once again, stay tuned for further developments...
well at least they acknowledged it...
these issues are killin me!

A short fix til a patch comes out is to use the charecter toolbox for all your text based needs.

I have found that this problems only show up when you upgrade to PS 10.0.1. Prior to this I didn't experience those specific problems.

David: Since I experienced the problem prior to the 10.0.1 release, I tend to doubt that this is the case. I don't doubt you're having it, you understand, just that it's caused by 10.0.1.
Also, if you check out the "Update Coming" post, you'll see that Adobe's Photoshop Support Manager acknowledges the problem, and indicates that 10.0.1 doesn't solve it, which also implies that it existed prior to 10.0.1.

I only upgraded to leopard for one reason-
So my daughter can connect her brand new shiny iPod to my mac. The new iPods do not work with 10.3.9.
So now, after buying the iPod-
$129 for Leopard
$49 for iLife 08
My photoshop elements no longer works- AT ALL!
My network printer has completely dissappeared and I cannot find it.
But at least the iPod works.

I am using a PC but have the same problems with flickering cursor and when you mouseover the workspace icons on the right side they only last for a split second and if you open one you may not get it closed.

I'm having the same problems still. 10.0.1 made it infinitely worse. Before the upgrade it used to happen after 10 min or so. Now it happens after the first 1 min.
This is horrible. Its a show stopping bug making it pretty much unusable. I really hope they put out a patch to solve it quickly.

Conflict with spaces is definitely the problem. I've had spaces off for 2 days now and Photoshop CS3 seems to be fine so far.

Never had this problem, running PS with Leopard from day 1. Until today when I tried Spaces for the first time.

Yes, it is definitely related to Spaces. It only happens on my MBP after switching to another space and back again. I wonder if it's related to the number of spaces you have set up, since the author didn't see the correlation. I'm using all 16. If I'm spending a lot of time in PS on a given day, I kill spaces.

Yep, I concur. Spaces is most definitely the problem.
If you depend on Photoshop CS3, you'll have to do without spaces until Adobe gets off their lazy asses and provides a fix for this.

I have the same problem and figured it was my graphics card but you all keep talking about "Spaces". What is Spaces - a program or your workspaces?

The key is to turn off the Intellipoint software that comes with the Microsoft Mouse. It's messes things up in both Macs and PCs
[Umm... probably not, as I had the issue and use a Mighty Mouse ~ ML]

Isn't Adobe sort of bragging about how sweet CS3 is on Leopard?
I've noticed the whacked out Marque tool only after switching to a new space and back again (as others with the MBP have already confirmed).
Thank God I'm only using the 30-day trial, I'd be pissed if I paid for it and it was working.

I had the same problem where the cursor would flicker while using Photoshop CS3. By accident I deleted one of my latest brushes and it went away! I reinstalled the brush and it came back. Tried this on another computer with a fresh install of CS3 and it did it there too. The brush was called "Worn_HighRes003.abr" A fantastic brush, but it clearly made my cursor wig out and become unusable.
Try unloading one brush at a time (start with your recent additions) and see reload PS each time to see which one did the trick. I know it worked for me.

Really very annoyed by this bug. I currently run with 6 spaces on my MBP and with an official CS3 suite, I'm getting rather hacked off. Apple and Adobe pick up the phone and sort it out!!!
I have no plugins etc, if anyone has any further progress it would be great.
Thanks in advance

If Adobe created Mac apps properly, they wouldn't have these problems...

OS X 10.5.3 doesn't solve the PS spaces curser problem!
Now almost June. What is adobe doing?
